Principal members Brendon Thomas (Foreverinmotion), James Downes (Call It Arson), and Trevor Leonard (Triangle Shirt Factory) recorded their 2010 debut Steep Bay in a cabin in Upstate New York with only a two-track, battery-powered recorder. For their follow-up, Shakey, the band took a similar approach inspired by Neil Young, recording live to tape with minimal rehearsals and in as few takes as necessary.
